My name is Andre S. Richardson. I am from Henderson, NC. I will be serving in my first year as a Residence Director on the South Side of Bragaw Hall. I have a B.A. in English from Shaw University, located in Raleigh, NC. I am working toward an M.A. in Liberal Studies here at N.C. State University. After obtaining this degree, I will apply for admission in the Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration program at N.C. State University. I am a huge sports fan. Most of the time my television is on ESPN.

After high school, I served five years on active duty in the United States Navy from June 1988 - June 1993. I was stationed aboard the USS Gunston Hall LSD-44. Our homeport was Norfolk, VA. We were in the first battle group deployed for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm where we served for eight months off the coast of Kuwait.

After serving in the military, I attended Shaw University from 1993-1997 and earned a B.A. in English. I obtained a job with Vance County Schools, in Henderson, NC as an English Teacher. During my four-year tenure at the school (1997-2001), I served as English Department Chair, SACS Planning Chair, Boys Basketball Coach, Student Council Advisor, School-wide Editor and member of the School Leadership Team.

In 2001, I began working for my alma mater, Shaw University. This was also the beginning of my new career in higher education. I served as Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement for Special Projects. In this position I was responsible for proposal writing that secured funds from private corporations and foundations. In addition, I was responsible for managing special projects assigned by the Vice President.

I am a member of the following organizations: Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), The National Center for Black Philanthropy, Inc., National Education Association (NEA), North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE), North Carolina Coaches Association (NCCA), Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (AFA), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Steering Committee, National Alumni Association (NAA) for Shaw University and the YMCA.
